  • The Bluegrass & Traditional Country Music Society of Australia (BTCMSA) was founded in 1975 by a group of enthusiastic bluegrass & old-time musicians.
  • It was the first national association in Australia committed specifically to bluegrass, old-time and acoustic traditional country music.
  • We have continued to remain true to our original focus, becoming the cornerstone for the growth and preservation of bluegrass & old-time music in Australia.
  • The BTCMSA is an informal not-for-profit group of people interested in and playing, learning and sharing bluegrass, old-time & acoustic traditional country music.
  • Activities of the BTCMSA are carried out on a volunteer basis by the founders, an informal coordinating group and other interested people who want to give time and energy to nurture the music.
  • It functions as a cooperative information-sharing network and a focal point to support and inform the wider community about bluegrass & old-time music events, happenings and news.

  • As a subscriber member, you have the satisfaction of becoming part of this cooperative network, whilst gaining the extra benefits available to members:
    • frequent BTCMSA News & Updates directly to you by email;
    • an occasional printed publication, Bluegrass & Traditional Country Music Bulletin with informative articles, playing hints, pictures and news;
    • DISCOUNTS at nominated events and businesses;
    • help in locating teachers and learning materials.

  • There are two affiliated monthly get-togethers with concerts, workshops and jamming for people at all levels of ability. First timers and beginners are especially welcomed!
  • The BTCMSA also supports and sponsors other relevant and appropriate special events.
